Verizon’s Dividend Makes All The Difference

Verizon stock has been trading in a level band between $34 to $38 since the beginning of 2011. The company has the largest wireless telecommunications system in America. It company generally accomplishes its publicized goals. Verizon also issues dividends worth $2.00 per year or a 5.2 percent yield.

In the last quarter, 882,000 new wireless service customers joined Verizon and Smartphone accounts increased by 3%.  Their revenues from fiber optic services also increased. The company has also initiated 4G mobile services and has 186,000 customers.

On the other side, since the use of wire service is going down, eventually Verizon’s wire network may produce fewer earnings.

The stock has been trading between $34 to $38 during 2011. This is all right in today’s economy. This is especially true if one trades the stocks on a short term basis. What can make the difference is the dividend yielding 5.2 percent annually.
