The Wall Street Journal, citing and annual Congressional report on refugees, reported that the Obama administration is planning to increase the number of refugees entering the US next year by 30 percent.

The new target figure of 110,000 was presented to Congress by Secretary of State John Kerry will commence on October 1 for the fiscal year of 2017. The number of refugees admitted into the US during 2016 was 85,000. Kerry spoke in a closed session to members of the Senate and House judiciary committees this past Tuesday.

This is not a surprise as the Secretary has said several times in the past that the US is ready and willing to allow at least 100,000 refugees into the country this coming year, and would even try to admit a larger number if he and the administration were able to.
