GM to Open Four New Technology Centers

General Motors has been expanding its staff throughout the U.S. Its project continues with their latest announcement, revealing plans to hire up to 1,500 workers for a computer technology center in Michigan, north of Detroit.

According to Boston.com, “it is part of a move to bring 90% of information technology in-house, which GM believes will make the company more nimble and efficient. The carmaker plans to hire 10,000 people at four new technology centers in the next three to five years. The centers will help get breakthrough ideas into the company’s cars and trucks, GM says.”

Though two of the sites have yet to be revealed, the third is located in Austin, Texas. It is hiring 500 people.

According to Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, this is only the first of three announcement GM plans to make regarding jobs in the state. He claims the company intends to add 2,000 positions and invest up to $300 million in Michigan.
